Conclusion
Envy
= Mindless x Contagious²
As stated earlier, envy is a far more ubiquitous, fundamental, and
destructive human behavior than the vast majority of mankind understands or
realizes. It is a very bad actor on the stage of life.
Envy requires targets. It must have a place to deposit its venom.
For some, the bull’s-eye is registered on every single human living on
earth. They hate themselves so much that everyone (including ancestors?)
is road-kill for their stew pot.
Now, if you’re like most people, envy is something you probably never think
or dream about in a serious way; especially recognizing it as the cause of so
much discomfort in your life.
Yet, envy is a human behavior you encounter every day.
It's insidious, malicious and diabolical. It's rarely, if ever, beneficial as
it flourishes within — and permeates through — all societies and cultures
while tending to cluster in peer groups or classes.
Indeed, envy can be drop-dead detrimental to your well being.
What characteristics of the envier are the most obvious and visible?
-
Probably the most notorious insignia is pitifully low self-esteem.
It seems to be the most consistent and best alert — and warning —
exhibited by those infected with envy.
-
Another is the penchant for "magical thinking".
Thinking that is disconnected from reality.
-
Hypocrisy
(inconsistency) is a badge of honor. They are utterly struck dumb when
confronted with their inconsistencies.
They have no idea of philosophy's
Law of Identity. The fact that "A" is
"A".
-
Psychological denial lives
quite large in their persona as well. They wallow in it.
-
Pessimism is their creed and mind set. To them a glass is always at
least 80% empty --- even when it's objectively brim-full.
Look for their
predominate (and automatic) negative response to the good.
-
Parasitical.
There are two classes of people in the world: Producers and Parasites. Being
a moral producer is a Good. Intentionally being a moral parasite is not.
[Now don't get upset with the messenger; I'm NOT talking about those who are
physically or mentally incapable through no fault of their own.]
-
Psychological Projection is
too often
their modus operandi.
They'll dump their deepest-held personality
defects onto the target of their envy.
The evil things they accuse one of
doing, or being, are often the very characteristics that exist at the center
of their own persona.
Watch for "Projection Syndrome". You'll be surprised at how often it goes on parade.
Here's A <profoundly> Better Way To Think:
EXTROPY
People with wonderful high self-esteem rarely, if ever, whirl into a fit
of envy.
They don’t need to — they tend to admire, appreciate, and
applaud the "stuff" of others.
They honor themselves as
rational Sovereign Individuals.
They celebrate the good for being the good.
They respect Heroic Man.

Through what prism do you now
see the world?
Finally, just for fun, I leave you with two of the most
fundamentally profound and
succinctly stated "laws of the universe" ever written:

Think about those quotes.. Deeply.
